Stampede At the Goa Temple: PM Modi offers condolences
Goa Stampede: 7 Killed, Over 50 Injured At Lairai Devi temple: A major accident has happened in Shirgaon, Goa. A stampede broke out during the famous Shri Lairai Jatra (religious journey) held here. 7people are reported dead in the accident. More than 50 people are reported to be injured. The accident happened late Friday night. As soon as the information about the accident was received, the police and rescue team reached the spot. The injured in the accident have been admitted to the Goa Medical College and the North Goa District Hospital in Mapusa. Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has reached the hospital. He has asked for free treatment for the injured.
PM Modi offered his condolences to those who lost their lives in the stampede.
“Saddened by the loss of lives due to a stampede in Shirgao, Goa. Condolences to those who lost their loved ones. May the injured recover soon. The local administration is assisting those affected,” said PMO in a statement attributed to PM Modi.
Goa Congress has expressed grief over the incident. At least six people died and more than 50 people were seriously injured in a stampede during the annual Jatra (religious procession) at the Shirgaon temple in Goa on Friday. The accident happened when panic suddenly spread among the huge crowd, due to which people started running here and there to save their lives.
