Gold-Silver Rate Fall : Gold and silver prices surprised everyone in 2025, breaking new records daily to reach new peaks. However, the prices of both precious metals crashed sharply in the last week of the year (Gold and Silver Price Crash), and this continues in the new year 2026. Big fall in the price of gold:
The fall in the price of gold, which started in the last week of 2025, continued in the first week of 2026 as well. If we look at the change in the price of gold in a week, it has suddenly become cheaper by Rs 4,121 per 10 grams. On 26 December 2025, the price of 24 carat gold with expiry on 5 February on Multi Commodity Exchange i.e. MCX was Rs 1,39,873 per 10 grams and by last Friday, the last trading day of the first week of the new year, it had come down to Rs 1,35,752 per 10 grams.
Speaking of the decline in gold prices from their lifetime highs , the MCX Gold Rate was ₹1,40,456 per 10 grams, compared to ₹1,35,752 last Friday. Consequently, gold has fallen by ₹4,704 per 10 grams from its high.
According to updated rates on the Indian Bullion Jewelers Association’s website, IBJA.com, not only on the MCX, but also in the domestic market, the 24-karat gold rate has dropped from ₹137,956 to ₹134,782 within a week. Consequently, gold has become cheaper by ₹3,174 per 10 grams.
Silver prices continue to fall
Now talking about the fall in silver prices, in the past one week, the price of silver has fallen by Rs 3,188 per kg. In fact, on December 26, 2025, the rate of 1 kg silver was Rs 2,39,787, which closed at Rs 2,36,599 last Friday despite a rise of Rs 726. If we look at the fall in silver from its high, its lifetime high level is Rs 2,54,174 and even now silver is available cheaper by Rs 17,575 per kg.
