Government Reduces Prices Of 35 Medicines : The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has announced a price reduction for these medicines. The major medicines in this are Aceclofenac, Paracetamol, Amoxicillin, Potassium Clavulanate, Atorvastatin and some other medicines.
In order to make healthcare affordable, NPPA has assured the general public by reducing the prices of 35 essential medicines. These medicines are sold by pharmaceutical companies, whose retail prices have been reduced. Patients suffering from chronic diseases will benefit from the reduction in prices as it also includes medicines for heart disease and swelling. NPPA i.e. National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority has issued information about reducing the prices of these medicines. The major medicines in this are- Aceclofenac, Paracetamol, Amoxicillin, Potassium Clavulanate, Atorvastatin and some other medicines. This also includes diabetes medicines. This information was shared by the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers. This department works under NPPA and fixes the prices of medicines in the country and also monitors the prices.
According to a national media report, aceclofenac, paracetamol, trypsin chymotrypsin tablets will now be available at Rs 13. Cadila Pharmaceuticals has fixed the price at Rs 15, while atorvastatin 40mg and clopidogrel have been fixed at Rs 26. The price of paracetamol given to children has also been reduced. Similarly, vitamin-D medicine will be available at Rs 31. The notice issued clearly states that all drugstores or retailers will display a list of drug prices in their shops. With the help of which the consumer can know the price of all medicines. If the shopkeeper does not follow the rules, then he will be punished under the Essential Commodities Act, 1955 of DPCO 2013. After the price of medicines is reduced, GST will not be levied on them. But if necessary, GST may be levied on some medicines.
