- 1947-48 (India-Pakistan) Kashmir War:
The first war was imposed on India just a year after independence. When tribal fighters from Pakistan and the Pakistani army together attacked Jammu and Kashmir. This war between the two countries lasted for 441 days, during which the Pakistani army suffered heavy losses.

1962 war,India-china:
India had to fight the second war with China in the year 1962. In this war, India gave a tough fight to China. Both armies suffered heavy losses of life and property. This war lasted for 32 days.
1965 India-pakistan War:
India’s third war was fought with Pakistan in the year 1965. Under the leadership of Lal Bahadur Shastri, the Indian army wreaked havoc on the enemy. Due to their valour, Indian soldiers destroyed the Pakistani tanks. This war lasted for 50 days.

1971 Indo-Pak War:
India fought the third war with Pakistan in the year 1971. Under the leadership of Indira Gandhi, India divided Pakistan into two parts. East Pakistan separated and came into existence as Bangladesh. This war lasted for only 13 days, and 93000 soldiers of the Pakistani army had to surrender.

1999 Ind-Pak War/ Kargil War:
India fought the fifth and last war with Pakistan on the peaks of Kargil. On Musharraf’s instigation, Pakistani soldiers disguised as terrorists infiltrated India and captured it. In retaliation, the Indian Army and Air Force forced Pakistan to kneel. This war lasted for 85 days, and Pakistan had to face defeat once again.
