Ikkis Box Office Day 1: Agastya Nanda’s Debut Film Opens Strong with ₹8 Crore Collection: Director Sriram Raghavan’s much-awaited film Ikkis has finally hit theaters, marking the big-screen debut of Agastya Nanda, grandson of Hindi cinema megastar Amitabh Bachchan. Released on the occasion of New Year, the film has opened to an encouraging response at the box office.
Based on the life of Indian Army Second Lieutenant Arun Khetrapal, a Param Vir Chakra awardee who was martyred in the line of duty, Ikkis has generated strong audience interest even before its release. The biopic’s patriotic theme and emotional storytelling have resonated well with viewers.
Originally scheduled for a December 25 release, the makers postponed the film to January 1, 2026, to avoid clashing with major releases such as Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri, Dhurandhar, and Vrishbha. The strategy appears to have paid off.
According to a report by Sacnilk, Ikkis collected approximately ₹8 crore on its opening day, an impressive figure for a newcomer-led film. The movie’s trailer had already received positive feedback, and early reviews from critics have further boosted its momentum.
Industry observers note that if the film maintains this pace, it is likely to enjoy a strong opening weekend. Comparisons are also being drawn with last year’s breakout debut of Ahan Panday in Saiyyara, with many believing Agastya Nanda is on a similar successful path.
Despite facing competition from Ranveer Singh’s much-hyped Dhurandhar, Ikkis has held its ground on day one. Trade analysts are now keenly watching whether the film can sustain its performance and continue competing with bigger releases in the days ahead.
With a promising start and positive word of mouth, Ikkis has positioned itself as one of the notable New Year releases at the box office.
