Cyclone Shakti, currently forming over the Arabian Sea, is intensifying and rapidly moving towards the Gujarat coast, prompting a severe weather warning from the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The cyclone is expected to strengthen into a severe cyclonic storm within the next 24 hours.

  • Movement: Northwest at a speed of 8 km/h

Meteorologists predict that Cyclone Shakti will move further into the northern and central Arabian Sea by October 5, and is likely to curve east-northeastward by October 6.

The IMD has sounded alerts until October 7 for coastal districts of Maharashtra and Gujarat, including:
