SS Rajamouli Praises James Cameron’s ‘Avatar: Fire and Ashes’, Calls It a Mesmerising Cinematic Experience
India’s Biggest Director Reviews ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’, Praises James Cameron’s Vision: Cinema lovers across the globe are eagerly awaiting Avatar: Fire and Ashes, the third installment in James Cameron’s iconic Avatar franchise. Known for creating immersive cinematic worlds, the Titanic filmmaker once again promises to transport audiences back to Pandora—a universe that has continued to captivate viewers since the release of the first Avatar film.
Ahead of its worldwide theatrical release on December 19, the film has already received its first major review—from none other than acclaimed Indian filmmaker SS Rajamouli, best known for blockbusters like Baahubali and RRR. Rajamouli recently watched Avatar: Fire and Ashes at a special screening and shared his thoughts, expressing deep admiration for Cameron’s vision.
Thanking James Cameron for the opportunity to watch the film early, Rajamouli described the experience as truly magical. “Watching Fire and Ash was a wonderful experience. Hats off to you for creating such amazing characters and such a beautiful world. I just wanted to keep watching it,” he said. The director added that he felt like a child again, completely immersed in the world and characters of Pandora.
Rajamouli also singled out Jack Sly’s character as his favourite in the film. He noted that the character’s moral dilemma kept him deeply engaged throughout. “I left the theatre, but I can’t get this film out of my mind,” he shared. Reflecting on the evolution of characters, Rajamouli said that while Jack was strong even in the first Avatar, he was curious about how the film would handle his arc this time—and was impressed with the outcome.
Speaking about Miles’ character, Rajamouli admitted that his emotions had changed. “In the first film, I hated Miles’ character. But in this film, I couldn’t hate him even if I wanted to. At the same time, I couldn’t fully love him either,” he said, praising the layered and nuanced character development.
With such glowing praise from one of India’s most celebrated filmmakers, anticipation for Avatar: Fire and Ashes has reached new heights. As audiences count down to December 19, James Cameron’s return to Pandora appears set to deliver yet another unforgettable cinematic spectacle.
