The Income Tax Department has designed two mobile apps for the convenience of working professionals, which can help them in filing ITR.

The central government has extended the date for filing ITR to 15 September, for which less than 10 days are left now. In such a situation, the department has released two such apps for taxpayers, which can help in filing ITR. Let us tell you about it in detail.

For the financial year 2024-25, taxpayers can also file tax from mobile through the official apps of Income Tax Department ‘AIS App’ and ‘Income Tax Department App’. These apps help the taxpayer in filing ITR. With this, taxpayers have been given the facility to file Income Tax Return (ITR) directly. These apps have been designed to make tax filing easy and accessible. They have been developed especially for salaried people, pensioners and small taxpayers with simple income profile.

How the app will help

Login and access-Taxpayers who want to file ITR can login through the app by entering their Aadhaar ID, PAN and password.

Checking pre-filled data – When you log in to the app, you get the data of Annual Information Statement and Taxpayer Information Summary in the app itself. It contains pre-filled data from places like company, bank, mutual funds, etc., which reduces the need for manual entry.

Help in choosing the right ITR form– The app helps you choose the correct ITR form based on your income like salary, pension, capital gain or other income.

Help adding details- If any data is incorrect or missing, it can be corrected or added. For example, interest on fixed deposits or rental income may need to be entered manually.

E-verification and submission-After filing the return, e-verification is done through Aadhaar OTP, net banking or digital signature. The return is submitted immediately.

These mobile apps eliminate the need for desktops or middlemen. They are very beneficial for those who want to do their tax filing in a quick, easy and secure manner.
