Japan Airlines Suddenly Drops 26,000 Feet In Mid-Air: A Japan Airlines plane plummeted nearly 26,000 feet after cabin pressure suddenly failed on June 30. A Japan Airlines flight from Shanghai to Tokyo turned horrific when its Boeing 737 aircraft plummeted nearly 26,000 feet in the air. On Monday, June 30, Flight JL8696, operated by Japan Airlines’ low-cost partner Spring Japan, took off from Shanghai Pudong Airport with 191 passengers and crew on board. Everything seemed normal until 6:53 p.m. local time.

During the incident, the plane was flying at an altitude of 36,000 feet. However, suddenly the plane lost balance and in just 10 minutes, the plane came down to 26,000 feet. As soon as it reached a height of 10,500 feet above the ground, the pilot somehow controlled the plane and immediately made an emergency landing.

According to the Japanese government, there was a technical fault in the cabin, which the pilots tried to fix. During this time, the plane was brought down from a height of 26000 feet in 10 minutes. Initial reports said the pilots contacted air traffic controllers after the plane issued an alert about a fault in the pressurisation system that maintains air pressure in the cabin.
