What is the JN.1 variant?

JN.1 is a subvariant of the Omicron variant, which has evolved from BA.2.86 i.e., Pirola. It was first identified in Luxembourg in 2023 and gradually spread to many parts of the world, including India now. Experts believe that there have been some special changes (mutations) in it, due to which this variant spreads faster among people than before. However, it is a matter of relief that, till now no serious disease has been confirmed due to it.

Dry cough
Sore throat
Tiredness
Headache

Difficulty breathing (in severe cases)

These symptoms usually appear within 2 to 14 days of infection, and in most cases people recover at home.
