Jai Dholakia will receive the Padma, will be the BJP candidate from Nuapada
Late BJD MLA Rajendra Dholakia’s Son Jay Dholakia Likely To Join BJP : Jay Dholakia, son of late four-time Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MLA Rajendra Dholakia, is likely to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Sources indicated that the formal induction may take place soon at the local BJP headquarters, marking a significant setback for the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD), which was reportedly considering fielding him as its candidate.
Jay Dholakia’s possible entry into the BJP comes exactly a month before the November 11 bypoll, which was necessitated by the demise of his father, veteran BJD leader Rajendra Dholakia, in early September. Sources added that the move could decisively alter the political landscape of the district, as the Dholakia family commands a strong support base in Nuapada, built over decades through Rajendra Dholakia’s political and social leadership.

The biggest thing was that Jai Dholakia was not seen in the BJD padayatra. Since then, it has been confirmed that Jai Dholakia is leaning towards the BJP. It is said that he met the central leadership of the BJP in New Delhi. There is also talk that he will be a BJP candidate. Political commentators are of the opinion that if Jai Dholakia becomes a BJP candidate, the numbers of Nuapada will be reversed and the BJP’s victory will become easy. Otherwise, this will also be a cause of headache for the BJD.
It is worth noting that Jai Dholakia and some of his family members have businesses in Surat, Gujarat. The BJP government has been in power in Gujarat for more than 25 years. They have also benefited from that government. Therefore, Jai is more interested in contesting the Nuapada by-election as a BJP candidate. Besides, Rajendra Dholakia first won as an independent candidate. Later, keeping in mind the local needs, he joined the ruling BJD. Now there is a BJP government in Odisha. And if Jai joins the BJP and succeeds in getting a ticket, then his supporters are thinking that his victory will be easy.
