Tragedy in Himachal: 15 Killed As Landslide Hits Bus In Bilaspur’s Jhanduta Constituency
Massive Landslide in Bilaspur, HP: Bus Buried, 15 Dead, Many Injured: A devastating landslide struck a passenger bus near Bhulu Setu in the Jhanduta Assembly constituency of Bilaspur district on Tuesday evening, claiming the lives of at least 15 people and leaving many others injured. The bus, carrying around 30 passengers, was crushed under a sudden avalanche of rocks and debris falling from the hillside, reportedly weakened by incessant rainfall.
Local residents were the first to respond, launching immediate rescue and relief efforts. Emergency services and administrative teams soon arrived at the scene, and the injured were rushed to hospitals in Ghumarwin and Jhanduta. Amidst the tragedy, one child was miraculously rescued safely.
Authorities are in the process of confirming the identities of the deceased. Chaos and grief prevail at the site as families and locals grapple with the scale of the disaster. Heavy rains are believed to have destabilized the hillside, causing the sudden collapse.
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu expressed profound sorrow over the incident. Offering condolences to the bereaved families, he stated, “The state government stands firmly with the affected families during this tragic time and will provide all necessary assistance.” He remains in constant touch with district officials and has ordered the acceleration of rescue and relief operations.
The tragedy has once again highlighted the growing risks of landslides in the hilly regions of Himachal, especially during the post-monsoon period.
