Guidelines for Chief Minister’s kanya Vivah Yojana have been released. The government will provide financial assistance of Rs 51,000 to the poor and helpless. Rs 35,000 will be directly transferred to the girl’s account. Preference will be given to the disabled, widows, SC-ST. The Women and Child Development Department has written a letter to all district collectors in this regard.

Young women above 18 years of age can apply for this. Only young women and young men who are getting married for the first time are eligible for this benefit. Similarly, this assistance will also be provided in the case of remarriage of widows. The total assistance amount of Rs 51,000 will go to the accounts of 35,000 beneficiaries. In addition, a gift packet of Rs 10,000 will be provided by the government. This gift packet will include items such as pauzi, bangles, tikili, utensils, sarees, etc. The remaining Rs 6,000 will be given for wedding decorations. This amount will be provided by NGOs.

Applications will be considered on a first-come, first-serve basis. If the number of applications in a district exceeds the target, priority will be given to families receiving assistance from state and central government social security schemes.
It is worth mentioning that the state government has started this scheme as a gift to poor girls in the state for their marriage. For this, the government has made a provision of Rs 12 crore in the proposed budget for the financial year 2025-26.
