New rule to cover all ACs in homes, offices, and vehicles: ACs soon won’t go below 20°C
New AC Rules In India: No Cooling Below 20°C, No Heating Above 28°C: Amidst the intense heat and heatwave prevailing in the country, your AC, i.e., air conditioner, is going to have a temperature limit very soon. The central government is bringing a new rule regarding the temperature of the AC. After this, the AC cannot be set below 20°C or above 28 °C. To explain in simple language, you will not be able to cool your room below 20 degrees Celsius or heat it above 28 degrees Celsius. Central government minister Manohar Lal Khattar gave this information on Tuesday. The new rule will apply to ACs installed in residential, commercial establishments, and vehicles; i.e., ACs will not be able to run below 20 degrees in homes, offices, and vehicles.
What is the reason behind the new rule?
The first objective of the government with the new rules is to reduce excessive electricity consumption. The Union Minister said that this decision has been taken keeping in mind energy conservation, reducing electricity consumption, and environmental balance. Let us tell you that the less the AC is run, the more electricity is consumed. Apart from this, it will also help in the fight against climate change.
The Union Minister gave the example of Japan and Italy
Khattar was presenting a vision of 2047 of the Modi government on Tuesday. During this, he said that the government is going to bring a new system in the entire country, under which the temperature of all ACs cannot be taken below 20 degrees Celsius or above 28 degrees. This system will work in both cooling and heating conditions. Addressing the press conference, the Union Minister said that a provision is being made to standardize the temperature of air conditioners. It is going to be implemented very soon. He said that there are many countries where this system is applicable. He also gave the example of Japan, where the limit is 26 degrees. While talking about Italy, he said that it is 23 degrees here.
At what temperature do ACs run now?
Let us tell you that at present, ACs of many companies can run at a minimum temperature of 16 degrees. After this rule is implemented, air conditioner companies will implement it for their new ACs. That is, the ACs that will come to the market after this will provide a minimum cooling of 20 degrees, and the temperature cannot be set above 28 degrees.
