NDA Secures Landslide Victory in Bihar; Nitish Kumar Set for Record 10th Term as Chief Minister
The NDA has once again returned to power in Bihar with a sweeping victory in the Vidhan Sabha elections, paving the way for Nitish Kumar to take oath as Chief Minister for a historic 10th time. After being sworn in for the ninth time earlier in 2024, Nitish Kumar is now set to extend his longstanding leadership, creating a new political record in the state.
According to sources, the BJP–JDU–LJP–HAM alliance has secured an overwhelming 202 out of 243 seats, marking one of the most decisive victories in the state’s recent political history. The BJP has emerged as the single largest party, winning 89 out of the 101 seats it contested. The JDU has also delivered a strong performance with 85 seats.
On the other side, the opposition has faced a major setback. The RJD has been limited to 25 seats, while the Congress could manage only 6 seats. The total seats of the grand alliance have been reduced to just 40, placing them far behind the NDA’s dominant tally.
With more than 200 seats secured, the NDA coalition is all set to form the government once again, reinforcing its influence in Bihar politics. Preparations for Nitish Kumar’s swearing-in ceremony are already underway, and his return to the Chief Minister’s post appears certain.
