NEW DELHI, The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I&B) has announced the nomination of new members to the Press Council of India (PCI) under the provisions of the Press Council Act, 1978.
The nominations, notified in the Gazette of India on December 2, 2025, through notification number S.O. 5560(E), amend a previous notification from December 19, 2024. These appointments are effective from the date of publication of the latest notification.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I&B), Government of India, issued a notification on December 2, 2025, amending a previous notification regarding the nomination of members to the Press Council of India (PCI) under the Press Council Act, 1978.
The notification confirms the insertion of new members under the category “Members from among persons who own/carry on the business of management of newspapers,” nominated under clause (b) of sub-section (3) of section 5 of the Act. Significantly, Sudhir Kumar Panda from Pratidin, Odisha, is one of the three new nominees in this category.
The other members are M.V. Shreyams Kumar (Mathrubhumi, Kozhikode, Kerala) and Gurinder Singh (Indian Observer, New Delhi), Shri arun kumar tripathy(jan express, lucknow),ms arei tripathy(jai pradesh,lucknow),shri braj mohan sharma(gulabi halchal,jaipur) . member of parliament shri naresh ganpat mhaske (maharastra),shri kali charan munda(jharkhand) , Dr sambit patra (odisha)
These appointments take effect from the date of 20th december the notification’s publication.
