26 civilians, mostly tourists, were killed in a terror attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir

It has been reported that 2 foreign tourists have been killed in the attack. The death toll is expected to rise. A tourist from the Balasore district is among the dead. A terrorist attack took place in the Pahalgam area of Anantnag district in south Kashmir. The tourists were in a market when the terrorists suddenly opened fire. They came in police and army uniforms and opened fire. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has strongly condemned the barbaric attack.
The valley of Pahalgam is very famous. It is considered as a mini Switzerland by tourists. However, after the terrorist incident, the relevant area has been cordoned off for security. The only way to reach this valley is on foot or by horse. Therefore, the rescue work here is very difficult. The official said that chopper helicopters are being used to rescue the injured. Along with this, the rescue work is being done by a horse with the help of locals.
The Pakistan-sponsored terror outfit ‘The Resistance Front’ (TRF) has claimed responsibility for the horrific attack. The planned attack by terrorists targeting Hindu pilgrims ahead of the holy Amarnath Yatra, which begins on July 3, has sent shockwaves across the country.

After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Pakistan has put its air force on high alert. Pakistani Air Force reconnaissance aircraft are continuously monitoring the airspace near the Indian border. Pakistan fears that India may retaliate like the Balakot airstrike. Indian security agencies are also on high alert and security has been increased in the border areas.
Pakistan’s former high commissioner in India, Abdul Barsat X, tweeted. He wrote, “I am sure Islamabad is taking all possible measures to thwart any Indian misadventure against Pakistan. I have no doubt this time Pakistan’s response would be very hard.”
