This Pakistani drama, ‘Ramleela,’ accused of plagiarism
The teaser of Pakistani drama ‘Sher,’ which was released a few days ago, has created a controversy on social media. Many fans and critics have drawn parallels with an iconic scene from Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s 2013 film ‘Ram Leela.’ In this scene, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone’s characters stand facing each other with guns. They both love each other, but their families are enemies. Sher also has a similar scene in which actors Danish and Sara Khan stand facing each other with guns’ also has a similar scene in which actors Danish and Sara Khan stand facing each other with guns.
Netizens’ reaction
In the 49-second teaser, Danish and Sara are seen standing fearlessly in front of each other holding guns, but their love is clearly visible in their eyes. Finally, both of them fire the guns. This scene is just like Ramlila. That is why netizens are accusing this scene of plagiarism.
The makers of Sher are yet to issue a statement on the allegations. The actors are yet to respond to the controversy. Bhansali’s ‘Ram-Leela’ is a modern Indian version of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. The film was released in India in November 2013, starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Richa Chadha, Supriya Pachhak, Gulshan Devaiah, Sharad Kelkar, Raja Murad and others.
