Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) delivered a commanding performance on Friday to seal their place in the final after a nine-year wait, thrashing Punjab Kings (PBKS) by eight wickets with a staggering 10 overs to spare.
The win was set up by their bowlers, who dismantled PBKS for just 101 runs, and then sealed by a blistering knock from Phil Salt, who smashed 56 off 27 balls. With both teams having registered one win each against the other in the league stage and showing similar form throughout the season-including finishing level on points and nearly identical net run rates-this match was expected to be a nail-biter. Instead, it turned into a one-sided affair, with RCB asserting complete dominance.
Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, RCB wasted no time in making inroads. Priyansh Arya was sent back in the second over, and PBKS never really recovered.
