As part of her visit, PM Amarasuriya also explored avenues for collaboration in education and technology. She visited IIT Delhi and Hindu College, where she had once studied as an undergraduate student from 1991 to 1994.
At Hindu College, Amarasuriya was welcomed warmly by faculty and students, with posters and banners celebrating her return to her alma mater. Principal Anju Srivastava formally welcomed her on campus. The visit was a nostalgic moment for Amarasuriya, who reminisced about her student life in Delhi.
Her visit comes six months after PM Modi’s own visit to Sri Lanka, underscoring the continued diplomatic engagement between the two nations. With discussions ranging from developmental issues to cross-border concerns like fishermen’s welfare, the visit aims to reinforce the growing strategic and cultural ties between India and Sri Lanka.
