PM Modi To Visit States Affected By Floods To Review Situation: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit several North Indian states severely affected by recent floods and landslides. His visit comes amid widespread destruction caused by incessant monsoon rains, which have resulted in over 500 deaths across Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, and Haryana.
Worst-Hit Areas and Damage
Himachal Pradesh has seen the most fatalities, with over 360 deaths reported.1,087 roads are blocked. 2,838 power lines and 509 water supply schemes are disrupted. Estimated economic losses exceed ₹3,979 crore.
In Punjab, over 1,900 villages are submerged, with 43 deaths and 1.71 lakh hectares of crops destroyed. The state has requested a special financial package from the Centre.Jammu & Kashmir is seeing improving conditions, with falling water levels in the Jhelum River and dry weather forecast for the next 24 hours.Uttarakhand and other northern regions continue to face floods and landslides, causing major disruptions.
Relief and Rescue Efforts
Central and state agencies are conducting joint rescue operations, while essential supplies are being distributed in affected areas. PM Modi’s visit will include on-ground reviews of the relief efforts and damage assessment.
