Prime Minister Modi’s Historic 8-Day Diplomatic Tour

PM Narendra Modi Five-Nation Visit In 8 Days: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has left for a 5-nation tour today (Wednesday, July 2) at 8 am. The purpose of his visit is to strengthen India’s relations with many major countries of the Global South. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, during this 8-day visit, PM Modi will visit Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, Brazil, and Namibia apart from Brazil. During this time, he will also participate in the BRICS summit in Brazil.

The first leg of the journey begins today
In the first leg of the visit, PM Modi will visit Ghana for 2 days (2-3 July). This is the first bilateral visit of the Prime Minister to Ghana. For the first time in the last three decades, an Indian Prime Minister is visiting Ghana.

The Ministry of External Affairs said that during this visit, PM Modi will hold bilateral talks with the President of Ghana, in which the strong mutual partnership will be reviewed. Along with this, opportunities to strengthen relations through economic, energy, and defense cooperation will also be discussed.

Second phase of PM Modi’s visit
After the visit to Ghana, PM Modi will be on a 2-day visit to Trinidad and Tobago from 3 to 4 July. This will be the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister to Trinidad and Tobago since 1999. During this visit, PM Modi will hold talks with Trinidad and Tobago President Christine Carla Kangalu and Prime Minister Kamala Prasad Bissessar. PM Modi is also likely to address the joint session of the Parliament of the Caribbean country.

The third leg of the trip is in Argentina

In the third phase of the visit, PM Modi will visit Argentina from 4 to 5 July. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, during this time the PM will hold extensive talks with President Javier Miley to further enhance bilateral partnership in key areas such as defense, agriculture, mining, oil and gas, renewable energy, trade, and investment. The statement also said that PM Modi’s bilateral visit will further strengthen the multifaceted strategic partnership between India and Argentina.

Brazil will go in the fourth leg of the journey
PM Modi will be in Brazil in the fourth leg of his visit. Modi is visiting there on the invitation of President Luis Inácio Lula da Silva. Also, PM Modi will be in Brazil from 5 to 8 July to participate in the 17th BRICS summit.

This will be Modi’s fourth visit to Brazil as Prime Minister. The 17th summit of BRICS leaders is being held in Rio de Janeiro. Apart from the summit, PM Modi is also likely to hold several bilateral meetings.

The fifth leg of the journey will end in Namibia
As part of the last leg of his visit, Prime Minister Modi will also visit the African country of Namibia. During this, he will hold bilateral level talks with President Netumbo Nandi Ndaitw. PM Modi is also expected to address the Parliament of Namibia.

Let us tell you that the Global South refers to those countries which are often considered developing, underdeveloped or underdeveloped and which are mainly located in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. India has been constantly vocal at the global level regarding the Global South.
