Police driver Age Limit Relaxation
Police Driver Recruitment : The High Court has given an important decision on the issue of upper age limit for the recruitment of police drivers. The verdict came on a petition filed against the upper age limit. The state government has increased the upper age limit by 4 years. AG Pitambar Acharya informed the High Court in this regard.

This will be implemented in the case of 1245 people who applied to the High Court. The notification for 405 driver posts was published last October. However, as regular examinations were not held, the aspiring candidates applied for an increase in the age limit.
It is worth noting that on October 3, 2024, the Odisha Police State Selection Board had issued a notification for the recruitment of 405 driver posts in PMT. According to the notification, the minimum age of the candidates was fixed as 18 years and the maximum age was fixed as 23 years as on January 1, 2024. However, since no recruitment process was held for this post after 2020, many aspiring candidates approached the High Court demanding relaxation of the age limit.

On December 17, 2024, the High Court delivered its verdict in the case and directed to relax the upper age limit by 4 years, considering the issue of non-conduct of recruitment process for the last 4 years. The government had filed more than 20 writ appeals against this verdict. However, the government has now withdrawn these appeals.
