What is the Prime Minister’s Security Insurance Scheme?
Under the PMSBY, you get an insurance cover of up to ₹ 2 lakh at an annual premium of only ₹ 20. This scheme was launched in 2015. To join it, your age should be between 18 to 70 years, and you must have a bank account.
What is covered by insurance?
In case of death in an accident, an amount of ₹2 lakh is given to the nominee.
How to apply?
To get insurance under this scheme, you can apply by visiting your bank branch or the nearest Common Service Center (CSC). Once you apply, the insurance premium amount is auto debited from your bank account every year. The insurance period is from 1 June to 31 May, and it has to be renewed every year.

- To fill out the offline form, you have to visit the nearest branch of your bank

- Fill in all the information in the application form correctly, fill in the nominee’s name correctly
- Submit all the required documents along with the application form to the bank

- Age should be between 18 to 70 years
- You will not get the benefit of security insurance scheme after 70 years
