Ghana President John Mahama presents an award to PM Modi: national honour ‘Officer of the Order of the Star’

Prime Minister Receives The National Honour Of Ghana: Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on Wednesday awarded the West African country Ghana’s highest national honour, ‘The Officer of the Order of the Star of Ghana’. The Indian Prime Minister was given this honour for his ‘distinguished statesmanship and influential global leadership’. Ghana’s President John Dramani Mahama presented the award to PM Modi. Prime Minister Modi has reached Ghana in the first leg of his five-nation visit. During this, a meeting was held between the leaders of the two countries, in which important agreements were signed.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi informed about receiving Ghana’s national honour on social media platform X and said, ‘I am proud to be honoured with The Officer of the Order of Ghana.’ In his acceptance speech, PM Modi said that this award is a matter of pride and honour for him. He said, ‘I humbly accept this award on behalf of 140 crore Indians.’ He dedicated the award to the aspirations and bright future of India’s youth, its cultural traditions and diversity and the historical relations between Ghana and India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Ghana’s President John Dramani Mahama held delegation-level talks in which the two countries elevated their relations to the level of a comprehensive partnership. In a statement soon after the talks, Prime Minister Modi said that the two sides have set a target of doubling two-way trade in the next five years, and India is not only a partner but also a co-traveller in Ghana’s development journey.

Four agreements were signed

The two sides signed four agreements in several areas, including culture and traditional medicine. In the presence of Mahama, Prime Minister Modi said, “President Mahama and I have decided to elevate bilateral relations to a comprehensive partnership.” The Prime Minister said that both sides are unanimous on the fact that terrorism is the enemy of humanity, and it was decided to further strengthen cooperation to deal with this threat.

Support for Ghana in the fight against terrorism

Modi said, “We expressed gratitude for Ghana’s cooperation in India’s fight against terrorism.” The Prime Minister said that both sides expressed deep concern over the conflicts in West Asia and Europe and called for finding solutions to problems through dialogue and diplomacy. Modi said, “This is not the era of war; problems should be solved through dialogue and diplomacy.”
