Bridge Across Indrayani River Near Pune Collapses: At least 2 dead, 32 injured
Pune bridge collapse: 2 dead, 32 injured, Rescue Operation On : A dilapidated bridge built on the Indrayani River in the Kundmala area of Pune, Maharashtra, collapsed. Many tourists were present on the bridge when it collapsed. The tourists had gone to see the increased flow in the river after heavy rains. Around 25 to 30 tourists were swept away in the river when the bridge collapsed. According to the information received so far, more than 2 have died, while some people have been rescued. This incident is from the Talegaon Dabhade town of Maval. It is a famous tourist destination among the local people.
According to the information, a major accident occurred in Pune when a part of the bridge built on the Indrayani River collapsed. 20 to 25 tourists are reported to have been swept away in this accident. According to the information, the bridge was closed two to three days ago. However, no policeman was present near the bridge. The bridge was closed due to its dilapidated condition. But when the accident of the bridge collapse happened, people were standing on the bridge. People had climbed up to see the fast flow of water in the river after the rain.
Relief and rescue work continues:
After getting information about the incident, local police, villagers, and disaster relief workers reached the spot, and rescue work has started. It has been raining heavily in the Maval area for the last two days, and the water level of the Indrayani has increased. Due to this, agencies are making every effort to rescue the tourists who fell into the river. So far, 6 to 7 people have been rescued.
People present on the spot said this
The relief and rescue team present on the spot has pulled out 6 to 7 people so far. So far, two people have died in this accident. A rescue operation is going on to save the remaining people. People said that this accident happened due to the negligence of the administration. They said that during the accident, the rescue operation started very late at the spot. People present on the spot had informed the administration about the accident.
CM expressed grief over the incident
On the collapse of the bridge on the Indrayani river, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis said that there has been an incident of bridge collapse in Maval. I have spoken to the Divisional Commissioner, Tehsildar, and Police Commissioner. Some people have been injured who have been taken to the hospital. Some people are also stranded. The NDRF team is reaching there. Some people may have been swept away. We have not yet received confirmation of any casualties in this regard. Therefore, it would not be appropriate to talk about this right now. I will give information about this only after getting complete information. Right now, the administration is trying its best to provide relief to the people.
CM Devendra Fadnavis has announced that the state government will provide financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to the families of those who lost their lives in the bridge collapse incident on the Indrayani River near Talegaon in Pune district. Apart from this, the state government will also bear the cost of the treatment of the injured.
