Railway Minister posted the information
Railway Ticket Booking
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said through a social media post on Wednesday that Indian Railways will soon start using e-Aadhaar authentication to book Tatkal tickets. Explaining its benefits in his post, he wrote that this system will help the genuine users of the railways to get confirmed tickets at the time of need. It is expected that this system can be started by the end of this month.
Only 10% users are Aadhaar verified!
If you look at the IRCTC website, currently it has more than 13 crore active users, but the thing to note is that only around 10% of these users are Aadhaar verified. If reports are to be believed, this is why Indian Railways is going to make the rules stricter so that the Tatkal ticket booking process can be made stronger and only Aadhaar verified IRCTC accounts are allowed to do Online Tatkal Ticket Booking.
3.5 crore fake IDs blocked
According to reports, there is also a possibility that counter-based Tatkal tickets will also be booked after Aadhaar verification to control the irregularities during Tatkal Ticket booking. Meanwhile, IRCTC has blocked 3.5 crore fake user IDs in the last one year, which has significantly reduced the congestion of the system on its platform. PTI quoted an official as saying that in a major step towards bringing fairness in the railway ticket booking system, IRCTC has come up with solutions through AI-based advanced techniques to curb unauthorized ticketing by detecting and deactivating such user IDs created with disposable (short-term) email addresses and ensuring equal access to all passengers.
Big impact after this action
According to IRCTC, the positive results of this action have already come to the fore, the number of new user IDs being created on our platform has come down from 60 thousand to 65 thousand per day to only 10,000 to 12,000, which has reduced the system load and streamlined ticket reservations. IRCTC officials emphasized that this step ensures a level playing field for every passenger, preventing unauthorized agents from exploiting the system.
