Big change in Rajasthan Royals team, Head coach changed
The IPL mini auction process is going to be held on December 16th . And before that, all the franchises have already published their player retention list. And now one of the IPL franchises, Rajasthan Royals, has made a big announcement. After Rahul Dravid stepped down as the head coach, Rajasthan Royals has now announced the name of their new coach.
Rajasthan Royals have appointed Sri Lankan star player Kumar Sangakkara as their head coach for the upcoming IPL season. This decision was taken after Rahul Dravid resigned from the post. Dravid decided to leave Rajasthan Royals in August 2025. It should be noted that Sangakkara has been the cricket director of Rajasthan Royals since 2021. He also served as the head coach from 2021 to 2024. During Sangakkara’s coaching, the Rajasthan Royals team reached the final of IPL 2022 and reached the playoffs in the 2024 season.
Rajasthan Royals principal owner Manoj Badale said, “Kumar Sangakkara’s association with the team, his leadership skills and his deep understanding of the Royals’ culture will provide the team with the continuity and stability it needs at this time. We have always had full faith in Sangakkara. His clarity, calm demeanor and cricketing intelligence will play a key role in taking the team to the next level.”
Who else is on the coaching staff?
Not only that, there have also been changes in the other coaching staff of Rajasthan Royals. Vikram Rathour has been promoted to the position of chief assistant coach. Legendary New Zealand bowler Sean Bond will continue as the bowling coach.
However, after the entry of Ravindra Jadeja, there is a lot of talk about who will be the captain of Rajasthan Royals. It is being said that if Jadeja becomes the captain, there will be a big change in the Rajasthan Royals team. Especially, everyone is watching who the team buys in the mini auction.
