War2 vs coolie : Box Office record –
Even with War 2 hitting screens the same day, Coolie is holding its own in spectacular fashion. The Rajinikanth-led multi-starrer has already smashed the Rs 100 crore mark in pre-sales for its opening weekend, with over 12 lakh tickets sold on its first day alone. Trade pundits predict a Rs 50+ crore opening day, with the long Independence Day weekend likely pushing it past Rs 200 crore worldwide in its initial run.
Film trade analyst Ramesh Bala attributes this momentum to the star-studded ensemble: “Coolie is a multi-starrer with stars belonging to each of the southern states. Superstar Rajinikanth is popular across the country, and Aamir is a huge draw in the Hindi belt. Lokesh-Anirudh is a proven winning combo. Five big stars will pull five times more fans into theatres,” he explained.
