Lieutenant Shashank Tiwari, a resident of Ayodhya, lost his life while saving his colleague. The martyr’s body will reach his home today. Then the next day i.e. on Saturday, Shashank will be cremated with state honors.
The brave and promising Lieutenant Shashank Tiwari, a resident of Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh, was martyred in Sikkim. During an operational patrol, one of his fellow soldiers fell into the river. The flow of water was fast and the soldier started drowning. Seeing this, 23-year-old Lieutenant Shashank jumped into the river. He pulled his fellow out of the jaws of death, but lost his own life. His body will reach Ayodhya today.
Story of Ayodhya’s Son Lieutenant Shashank Tiwari
Shashank’s father is an officer in the Merchant Navy, who will reach India late tonight. Therefore, Shashank’s last rites will be performed with state honors at Jamthara Ghat tomorrow i.e. on Saturday. Shashank was the only son of the family. He has a sister who lives in Dubai. He was selected in NDA in 2019. Last year he got commissioned and his first posting was in Sikkim.

Shashank was a resident of Majhawan Gaddopur in Thana Cantt area of Ayodhya. His father Jang Bahadur Tiwari is in the Merchant Navy and is currently posted in America. Mother Neeta Tiwari is often unwell. She lives with the family in a house located in Kaushalpuri Colony.
Joined the army in 2024
Shashank Tiwari was very bright in studies since childhood. He qualified NDA in his first attempt. He joined the army on 17 December 2024. Service to the country was in his blood. Shashank’s only dream was to protect the motherland by wearing a uniform. Today he fulfilled that dream. By sacrificing his life. His body will be brought to Ayodhya today by aircraft. Tomorrow, with full state honors, he will be cremated at Majha Jamthara crematorium in Ayodhya. There is a wave of mourning in the village and the entire district but there is also pride. The villagers say that a true hero emerged from among us.
Shashank Tiwari was good in studies
Martyr Shashank’s maternal uncle said- Shashank was always good in studies. He received his primary education from Jingal Bell School in Shashank city. In the year 2019, he passed the intermediate examination from JBA Academy. After this, he got selected in NDA.
