Al-Falah University Founder Jawad Siddiqui Arrested in ED’s Money-Laundering Probe
Red Fort Blast Case: ED Arrests Al-Falah University Founder Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday arrested Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui, founder of Faridabad-based Al Falah University, in connection with its ongoing money-laundering investigation linked to the Delhi blast case. Siddiqui, who is also chairman of the Al Falah Group, was detained following coordinated raids at nearly 25 locations across Delhi-NCR that began early in the morning. According to officials, the ED seized ₹48 lakh in cash from premises associated with trustees and promoters of the group.
Officials said Siddiqui was arrested under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Raids were also conducted at the university’s Okhla office. The searches reportedly relate to suspected financial irregularities involving the university, shell companies allegedly connected to the institution, and potential money-laundering activities. The ED action follows two FIRs registered by the Delhi Police Crime Branch, which is also conducting a parallel investigation into Al Falah University.
Investigators have identified multiple shell companies linked to the group that are now under scrutiny. According to ED sources, at least nine shell firms registered at the same address, lacking EPFO and ESIC filing records, are being examined for suspicious financial movement. Several individuals associated with the trust and the university are also under investigation. Authorities noted that Dr. Umar—accused in the Delhi blast case—had past professional links with the university’s hospital, and some other arrested suspects were reportedly connected with the institution.
Meanwhile, a special NIA court in Delhi has sent Jaseer Bilal Wani alias Danish—arrested in relation to the blast—to 10-day NIA custody. The agency stated that custodial interrogation is essential for uncovering the broader conspiracy behind the incident.
