Dog gets a residence certificate, FIR filed against the applicant and officials
Residence Certificate Issued In The Name Of ‘Dog Babu’ In Bihar: A strange case has come to light from the Masaurhi region of Patna district, in which a residence certificate was issued in the name of ‘Dog Babu’. This incident has created a stir in the administrative department. After the case came to light, the Patna district administration took immediate action and suspended an officer, while an IT assistant has been relieved from service.
What the investigation revealed
The government has handed over the investigation of this entire case to Patna District Magistrate Dr. Tyagarajan SM. Initial investigation has revealed that an online application was made on July 15 by misusing the Aadhaar card of a woman from Delhi. A residence certificate was issued in the name of ‘Dog Babu’ without document verification.
The revenue officer and IT assistant have been found guilty in the investigation. Both are accused of ignoring the rules, making fake digital signatures, and ignoring the documents. Apart from this, the woman whose Aadhaar card has been misused has also been brought under the purview of investigation.
FIR registered under these sections
On the instructions of the DM, Revenue Officer Murari Chauhan was recommended for suspension. Whereas, the IT assistant has been relieved from service with immediate effect. An FIR has been registered against the unknown applicant and both the guilty officers under sections 316(2), 336(3), 338, and 340(2) of the Indian Penal Code.
At present, this matter is under police investigation. The administration has cancelled the residence certificate issued in the name of ‘Dog Babu’. Bihar Administrative Reforms Mission Society has instructed all the district officials to strictly follow the process of document verification on the NIC’s Service Plus portal. Soon, preparations are also being made to take the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on this portal.
