10–15% Salary Cut for Employees Ignoring Parents: Telangana’s Bold Move
Revanth Reddy’s New Rule: Salary Deductions for Workers Who Ignore Their Parents: In a landmark announcement, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy declared that the state government will soon introduce a law to hold government employees accountable for the care of their parents. Under the proposed legislation, if any government employee is found neglecting their parents, 10 to 15 percent of their salary will be deducted and directly deposited into the parents’ bank account. The Chief Minister made this announcement while distributing appointment letters to newly selected Group-II employees, urging them to uphold not just official integrity but also family and social responsibility.
CM Revanth Reddy said the move aims to instill family values and social sensitivity among employees. He explained that just as workers receive a monthly salary, their parents too deserve a share of that income if they are being neglected. The Chief Minister has directed Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao to form a special committee to draft the new law and ensure its effective implementation.
Highlighting the increasing cases of elderly parents being abandoned or ignored, Reddy said this measure will ensure justice for aged parents and encourage stronger family ties. The initiative is expected to serve as a social reform model for other states, promoting compassion, accountability, and respect for elders within society.
