Salman Khan Demands Ban on Unauthorized Use of His Name, Image, and Voice
Superstar Salman Khan has approached the Delhi High Court seeking protection of his personality rights, becoming the latest Bollywood icon to take legal action against the unauthorized commercial use of celebrity identities. His petition will be heard on December 11.
In the plea, Salman Khan has requested the court to restrict individuals and entities from exploiting his name, voice, image, or any identifiable features for commercial gain without consent. This includes unauthorized advertisements, AI-generated deepfake videos, fake social media accounts, and misleading brand endorsements.
Surge in Personality Rights Cases
Over the past few months, several major Bollywood figures have taken legal action to shield their identities from misuse. Stars such as Jackie Shroff, Anil Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan, Ajay Devgn, Aishwarya Rai, Akshay Kumar, Shilpa Shetty, and Karan Johar have all sought injunctions to prevent the exploitation of their likeness.
Celebrities argue that unauthorized use of their voices, photos, videos, expressions, or digitally altered images violates their privacy, dignity, and commercial rights. Courts have already ruled in favor of many artists, acknowledging the growing threat of deepfake technology and digital impersonation.
Well-known personalities including Asha Bhosle, Sunil Shetty, Jackie Shroff, and Akshay Kumar have previously secured favorable orders protecting their personality rights. These rulings are expected to support Salman Khan’s petition as well, especially amid the rising concerns around AI-fueled impersonation and fraudulent online activity.

On the professional front, Salman Khan recently wrapped another successful season of Bigg Boss 19, where Gaurav Khanna lifted the trophy.
