This change has been made in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the Right to Education Act 2009.

The Directorate of Education said that the school head has been given this right and can relax the age limit by up to one month. That is, if the child’s age is slightly more than the prescribed limit, then the school head can grant admission at his discretion. Apart from this, the age limit will be relaxed for a student who is already studying in a recognized school and wants to go to the next class. So that there is no problem in his education.
According to the Education Department, the main objective of this change is to improve the quality of education for children and strengthen the level of early education. At the age of 6, children usually develop early reading and comprehension skills. As a result, their literacy and numeracy skills are good. In addition, the policy will help reduce inequalities in early education.
