Raj–Simran’s Iconic Bronze Statue Unveiled in London; SRK and Kajol Get Emotional
Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol Unveil Bronze Statue of Raj–Simran in London to Celebrate 30 Years of DDLJ: Bollywood’s timeless classic Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge continues to win hearts across the world even three decades after its release. In a historic moment for Indian cinema, a bronze statue of the iconic characters Raj and Simran was unveiled at London’s Leicester Square, marking the 30th anniversary of the film. This is the first time an Indian movie has been honoured with a statue at Leicester Square, home to tributes for global cinematic legends.
SRK and Kajol Unveil the Iconic Statue
Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, who immortalised Raj and Simran on screen, personally travelled to London to unveil the statue. The installation is now part of the popular “Scenes in the Square” trail. The ceremony was attended by Yash Raj Films CEO Akshay Widhani and Heart of London Business Alliance Chief Executive Rose Morgan, celebrating the cultural connection between India and the UK.
The bronze statue captures Raj and Simran in their beloved, instantly recognisable looks, paying tribute to a film that has shaped generations of movie lovers.
At the unveiling, Shah Rukh Khan expressed overwhelming gratitude and emotion. He shared that DDLJ remains one of the most meaningful films of his career.
“This film is very close to my heart. It was made with love, and it gave me recognition across the world,” SRK said. “Seeing this statue brings back so many memories. I am proud of the love the film has received globally. I share this moment with the entire DDLJ team, director Aditya Chopra and the YRF family. I will never forget this moment.”
Kajol, equally moved by the honour, said she was overwhelmed by the enduring affection people still hold for the film.
“Watching the statue being unveiled in London felt like reliving a part of our history,” she said. “To see the love for DDLJ continue even after 30 years is truly special.”
The installation of Raj and Simran’s statue in one of the world’s most iconic entertainment destinations highlights the global legacy of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, a film that remains a symbol of love, culture, and cinematic excellence.
