Tata Motors Reshuffles Top Management: Shailesh Chandra Appointed MD & CEO, PB Balaji to Lead Jaguar Land Rover
Shailesh Chandra Will Be The New MD & CEO Of Tata Motors: In a major organizational shake-up, Tata Motors has announced a significant reshuffle in its top management as part of its ongoing process to separate its passenger and commercial vehicle businesses.
Shailesh Chandra has been appointed as the new Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Tata Motors. He will assume office on October 1, 2025, and will serve in this role until September 30, 2028. Chandra currently heads Tata Passenger Electric Mobility and will continue to lead the company’s EV division, which has seen remarkable growth under his leadership.
Chandra succeeds Girish Wagh, who has been named MD and CEO of TML Commercial Vehicles Ltd — a newly listed entity that will oversee Tata’s commercial vehicle operations. Wagh, a veteran at Tata Motors, has been instrumental in the development of iconic products like the Tata Ace and Nano.
In another high-profile move, Group CFO P.B. Balaji will step down on November 17 to become the CEO of Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) Automotive plc in the UK, becoming the first Indian to head the British luxury automobile brand. Dhiman Gupta will take over as the new CFO of Tata Motors.
Additionally, the board of Tata Motors has seen changes with the appointment of Sudha Krishnan as an additional independent director, while three former directors have stepped down.
This reshuffle marks a new chapter in Tata Motors’ transformation journey, aimed at strengthening focus and leadership in both its passenger and commercial vehicle segments.
