NASA Announces Astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla’s Return Date From Space
Shubhanshu Shukla Returns To Earth On July 14: Indian astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla and three other astronauts involved in NASA’s Axiom-4 mission are going to return to Earth from space soon. NASA has officially announced the date of this return. On July 14, 2025, this mission will undock from the International Space Station (ISS) and depart for Earth.
What information did NASA give?
Steve Stich, manager of NASA’s Commercial Crew Program, while giving information to the media, said, “We are working on the station program and are closely monitoring the progress of the Axiom-4 mission. According to the current plan, the mission will be undocked on July 14.”
Shubhanshu Shukla became a “farmer” in space
The most special aspect of this mission was that Shubhanshu Shukla played the role of an agricultural scientist while in space. He grew plants like moong and fenugreek in petri dishes and preserved them in the freezer of the ISS. The purpose of this experiment is to determine how microgravity affects the germination and initial growth of seeds.

This research will help scientists understand how long-term agriculture can be possible in space. Under this, the genetic structure of plants, their relationship with microorganisms, and changes in nutritional value will also be tracked.
What is the Axiom-4 mission?
The Axiom-4 mission was launched from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, USA, on 25 June 2025. 28 hours after launch, i.e., on June 26, the mission reached the International Space Station via Dragon spacecraft.
