Singer Maithili Thakur Joins BJP : Maithili Thakur, a renowned folk singer from Bihar, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday. State President Dilip Jaiswal inducted her into the party at a ceremony held at the BJP Media Center in Patna’s Hotel Chanakya. RJD MLA Bharat Bind also joined the party on the occasion. Dilip Jaiswal said that many more leaders from the Grand Alliance will join the NDA in the coming days.

Maithili Thakur’s journey from music to politics
25-year-old Maithili Thakur was born on July 25, 2000, in Madhubani district, Bihar. She had a deep passion for music since childhood. Her father, Ramesh Thakur, is a music teacher and her first guru. The family’s financial situation was poor, but Maithili not only made a name for herself with her voice but also spread Bihar’s culture across the country. Starting from small platforms, Maithili Thakur then established herself at the national level through social media and reality shows. Today, she has millions of followers. She has a special command over folk songs, bhajans, and traditional music.

According to sources, the BJP leadership wants to promote Maithili Thakur as a “young, cultural, and positive face.” It is believed that she could play a key role in attracting women and young voters for the BJP in the upcoming election campaign. There is also talk that Maithili Thakur may contest from the Alinagar seat.
Setback for RJD
RJD MLA Bharat Bind also joined the BJP on the same platform. Bharat Bind is a former MLA from the Bhabua assembly seat in Bihar’s Kaimur district. He won the 2020 election on a Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) ticket and assumed the MLA position. Bharat Bind began his political career in 2010 by winning the Zila Parishad elections. In 2015, he contested the Bhabua assembly seat on a Bahujan Party ticket, but lost.
