Sitaare Zameen Par Movie Review: After nearly two decades, Aamir Khan has come up with the sequel of ‘Taare Zameen Par’, Sitaare Zameen Par. The film will be released in theatres today. This film is directed by R. S. Prasanna and Genelia Deshmukh is also seen in an important role in it. The premiere of the film was held, in which many celebs from the film industry were seen. Many other stars including Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan, Rekha, Vicky Kaushal, Tamannaah Bhatia, Tiger Shroff and Ritesh Deshmukh also attended the premiere. According to media reports, Sitare Zameen Par can earn between 11 to 15 crores on the opening day. However, Aamir’s star power will not be of much use. It is expected that these numbers will double over the weekend.
The story of the Gulshan of stars
The treatment of people around us with intellectual disabilities has been quite shameful. There should be no harm in accepting that only after coming to a certain age and social setting, we have developed the sensitivity and understanding to treat every person ‘different from us’ at least like a normal human being. However, even in today’s times, this is a rare thing and is found only occasionally. ‘Sitare Zameen Par’ is the story of some such people.
It is also the story of a coach who has never faced any of his fears in life. Whenever he gets caught between the wheels of life, instead of trying his best, he runs away. Whether it is the trauma he faced from his father or living up to his wife’s wishes, you expect Gulshan Arora (Aamir Khan) to act arrogantly as long as he can and then run away when the situation doesn’t go in his favour. Gulshan Arora, the assistant coach of Delhi’s basketball team, is a very good coach but not a good man.
However, the law is such a thing that it knows how to rein in even the best of escapees. After committing a ‘scandal, Arora sahab is reined in by the court. Since it is his first offence, he is shown mercy and is not sent to jail, but is ordered to coach a team of people with intellectual disabilities in basketball. Gulshan is not happy that he has escaped jail, rather he is worried that he will have to coach these ‘mad’ people for three months
The problem is not that Gulshan does not know about autism, Down syndrome or autism spectrum. The problem is that he does not consider people born with these disorders as ‘normal’ human beings. Another problem of Gulshan is that he does not know how to understand others and that is why his relationship with his wife Sunita (Genelia D Souza) is also going wrong.
