South Actor B Saroja Devi Passes Away At 87: After the demise of Kota Srinivas, the South Indian film industry has received another big shock. Veteran Tamil actress B. Saroja Devi passed away on Monday at the age of 87. She acted in more than 200 films in her career spanning seven decades.
B. Saroj, known as ‘Abhinaya Saraswati’ and ‘Kannadthu Pengili’, was a prominent figure in South Indian cinema. He appeared in over 200 films across Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi languages.
B. Saroja Devi holds the world record for the actress who has appeared in the most consecutive films as the lead heroine. She played the lead role in 161 films from 1955 to 1984. B. Saroja has received many awards for her contribution to the film industry. She was awarded the Padma Shri in 1969 and the Padma Bhushan in 1992. She was also awarded the Kalaimani Award of Tamil Nadu and an honorary doctorate from Bangalore University.
