police stoped devotee darshan at Srikakulam Venkateswara Swamy Temple
Ten devotees have lost their lives in a stampede at the Sri Venkateswara Temple in Kashibuga, Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh. After the incident, the police have restricted the entry of devotees into the temple. Many devotees suffered broken bones in the incident and many have been admitted to the hospital due to breathing problems.

According to eyewitnesses, the only door of the temple was closed, and the devotees who had first gone inside to offer darshan fell on the people waiting at the bottom of the stairs due to the broken grille. As a result, a major incident took place. Srikakulam district police chief K. B. Maheswar Reddy said, “We have restricted the entry of devotees into the temple after seeing the situation.”

He further said, the temple organizers did not apply for police protection before the event. The police should have been informed in advance for crowd management in a temple or religious institution. But the temple administration did nothing like that. Sri Venkateswara Swami Temple is a self-governing temple. So the administration did not know anything about the crowd here.
Due to the Ekadashi of the Kartik month, a large number of devotees gathered at the Venkateswara Swamy temple. No permission was taken from the police for the temple. Even no security arrangements were made.
