odisha bus strike from 1st december

Crime is increasing as the state police cannot perform their duties properly. In this context, if the government gives the responsibility of checking motor vehicles to the police, then the bus and motor vehicle owners will be particularly affected. The government should immediately consider this. The police should be allowed to do their work and the MVI should be allowed to do theirs, the All Odisha Motor Bus Owners Association has said in a memorandum to the Chief Minister.

The association’s general secretary, Devendra Kumar Sahu, said that if the state government remains adamant in its decision, then a statewide bus strike will be held from December 1. In the memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister on Monday, Devendra Sahu stated that it has been decided at the government level to take over the responsibility of checking the police. This is to be implemented very soon. However, a case has been registered against IIC due to such an incident in Marshaghai recently. Meanwhile, e-challans have been sent to 500 bus owners. This is likely to particularly affect bus owners. In this regard, the general board meeting of the association will be held on November 25.

Devendra said that according to the Motor Vehicles Act-1988, while riding a motorcycle, one should wear a helmet, fasten seat belts, not have three passengers, and not drink alcohol. Compliance with the law can reduce accidents. But by giving additional powers to the police without giving importance to this, bus owners will suffer more. Devendra said that the government should consider the association’s proposal sympathetically.
