Supreme Court’s big decision in stray dog case: Orders to release after sterilization and vaccination
Stray Dogs SC Verdict: Release All After Sterilisation Except Rabid Or Aggressive Ones: Supreme Court’s big verdict on the stray dog issue. The Supreme Court has ordered that stray dogs be vaccinated and sterilized and released, not transferred. The court has given this verdict after reconsidering the recent order to transfer stray dogs to shelter homes.
During the hearing of the case on August 11, the Supreme Court ordered that stray dogs be permanently sent to dog shelters from the streets of Delhi-NCR. A review petition was filed in this case. Today, while giving its verdict in the case, the court said

- Sick and aggressive dogs will stay in shelters
While delivering the verdict, the court also warned that action will be taken against anyone who feeds dogs in the open. The Supreme Court also warned that anyone who stops the rescue team while rescuing a dog will be fined Rs 2 lakh.
Stray dog issue, Supreme Court reverses decision
- A national policy will be formulated for stray dogs
- Infected stray dogs should be caught and shifted to shelters

- Separate feeding areas should be set up for stray dogs
The Supreme Court has issued notices to all the states in this regard. A three-member bench of the Supreme Court, headed by Justice Vikram Nath, has given its verdict on the stray dog issue.

On August 11, the Supreme Court had directed the administration to shift all stray dogs in Delhi-NCR to shelters within the next eight weeks. This had sparked protests across the country. Today, the Supreme Court has made some modifications in its decision.
