Sunrisers Hyderabad Announces Pat Cummins as Captain For IPL 2026: All IPL franchises have released their lists of retained and released players for the upcoming season, though the trading window remains open, allowing for potential last-minute changes. Amid this activity, Sunrisers Hyderabad has announced its captain for IPL 2026: Pat Cummins.
Cummins, who first led Hyderabad in 2024, will captain the team for the third consecutive season. The franchise shared the news on social media with the caption: “2024, 2025, 2026… Orange Again. Captain Edition.” Under Cummins’ leadership, Hyderabad transformed from an underperforming side into a strong contender, even reaching the final in 2024.
The team features explosive batsmen such as Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, Ishan Kishan, and Heinrich Klaasen, and boasts a balanced bowling lineup. Hyderabad will be looking to further strengthen its bowling attack in the upcoming auction.
Cummins also captains Australia, under whose leadership the national team won the ICC Test Championship and the ODI World Cup in 2023. With his proven track record, Cummins is expected to guide Hyderabad toward ending their IPL title drought after falling short against Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2024 final.
