Malayalam cinema superstar Mohanlal will be conferred with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the highest honour in Indian cinema, for 2023. After the announcement by the central government today, Mohanlal said, ‘This is not just my honour, but the honour of the entire Malayalam film industry.’ The award will be presented at the 71st National Film Awards ceremony on the 23rd.

Mohanlal has won the hearts of the audience by acting in more than 350 films over a span of more than four decades. His strong acting and dedication to cinema have earned him two National Film Awards and many other honours. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Mohanlal, calling him the ‘leading light of Malayalam cinema’. The Dadasaheb Phalke Award is given for exceptional contribution to the world of Indian cinema. Many prominent people in the film industry have opined that Mohanlal’s success will further elevate the prestige of Malayalam cinema and the entire South Indian film world.
