Tesla To Launch India’s First Supercharger In Mumbai

Tesla To Launch 1st Charging Station In India: The world’s leading electric vehicle manufacturer, Tesla, has announced the launch date of its first charging station in India. This charging station will be located at One BKC in Mumbai and will be officially operational from Monday, August 4, 2025.

Fast and regular charging facility

Both fast charging and regular charging facilities will be made available to customers at this supercharging station. A total of four V4 supercharging stalls have been installed at the station, which will be capable of providing high-speed DC charging up to 250kW. Customers will have to pay ₹24 per unit for this facility. Apart from this, four AC destination charging stalls will also be available at the charging station, which will provide a charging speed of 11kW. Their rate has been fixed at ₹14 per unit.

Tesla has informed that this Mumbai station is the first of the eight supercharging stations being built in India. The V4 superchargers used in it are so fast that the Tesla Model Y can be given a range of about 267 kilometers in just 15 minutes. This distance is enough for a customer to travel from Mumbai Airport to the Gateway of India five times. The company claims that its superchargers have a 99.95% uptime, that is, they are operational almost all the time. Also, Tesla cars do smart battery pre-conditioning before charging, which further improves the charging speed.

Tesla’s design studio also launched in India

Along with the launch of the charging station, Tesla has also launched its online design studio in India. Through this, customers can now customize and book the Tesla car of their choice from any part of the country. Currently, the company has started booking its popular SUV Model Y. Its delivery will be done first in major cities like Mumbai, Pune, Delhi and Gurugram. Delivery will start between the third quarter of 2025 (July to September). Customers will not only be able to check the status of their booking and delivery through the Tesla mobile app, but will also be able to easily track the location of the charging station, charging progress and payment-related information.
