The Bhootni Movie Review : Talking about the absurd story of the film, it is the story of a college campus. There is a virgin tree in the campus of this college, which is said to unite lovers but there is another virgin tree in the same campus, which is said to be cursed. It has also killed many students, but unaware of these things, student Shantanu (Sunny Singh) reaches the tree after a heartbreak and prays for true love. His prayer is accepted and Mohabbat enters his life but this Mohabbat is none other than a ghost who wants to take Shantanu with her. Mohabbat puts not only Shantanu but the entire college in trouble. To get rid of this, paranormal expert Baba (Sanjay Dutt) enters, who works as a ghost buster. He has chased away many big spirits in a moment but he comes to know that Mohabbat is not an ordinary ghost but she has a lot of power. Will he be able to save Shantanu? What is the connection of love with the virgin tree? This is shown in the further story.

The Bhootni’ Movie Review
Horror-comedy is as much a fun genre as it is difficult. In the last few years, films like the ‘Stree franchise’ have proved its potential. Writer-director Siddhant Sachdev also tries something similar. Siddhant and Vankush Arora’s story does not take a new path. Santosh Thundiyil’s cinematography sometimes gives it an atmosphere. But the plot and screenplay are full of flaws. Hence, the film becomes weak.

At one point in the film, Mohabbat takes the form of a human to woo Shantanu. She is constantly with him. But once it is revealed that she is a ghost, she disappears for hours inexplicably. This is incomprehensible considering the powers and abilities of this ghost. Though some scenes are interesting, they lose their impact due to artificial VFX and Mohabbat’s poor makeup.

The film ‘The Bhootni’ is also weak on the horror front. However, it has a lot of comedy elements, so these shortcomings are compensated to some extent. Sunny Singh, Nikunj Lotia and Asif Khan have given funny one-liners and their friendship sometimes makes you laugh. But their characters are exaggerated and seem old.

Sahil is looking for a girlfriend. He is unnecessarily adamant about it. Similarly, Nasir aspires to be a poet and constantly speaks in Urdu. The film also tries to make you feel nostalgic – there are glimpses of Mouni Roy’s popular show ‘Naagin’ and Sanjay Dutt’s ‘Munnabhai MBBS’ as well as ‘Stree’.

In the film, Sanjay Dutt is shown as an alumnus of St. Vincent College. He is known as Baba because he did a double graduation (BA+BA, get it?). He fits the role well and has some comedy scenes and funny dialogues. Navneet Malik plays Baba in the backstory of the character which is connected to Bhootni Mohabbat. But it seems artificial, which makes the climax climax clichéd. Mouni Roy and Palak Tiwari have played their characters well. However, Palak’s character could have been written better.
