chief minister’s and MLAs’ salaries increased ; know how much they will get now
The chief minister’s and MLAs’ salaries increased by 100 percent. Both the bills (Karnataka Ministers Salary and Allowance Amendment Bill 2025 and Karnataka Legislatures Members Salary, Pension, and Allowance Amendment Bill 2025) were passed in the assembly. After this, the salary of the CM of Karnataka has increased from Rs 75,000 to Rs 1.5 lakh. The salary of ministers has increased from Rs 60,000 to Rs 1.25 lakh. The salary of MLAs has increased from 40 thousand to 80 thousand.

Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara defended the 100 percent hike in salaries of the CM, ministers, and MLAs. He said that, like the common man, his expenses are also increasing. The common man is also struggling, and so are the MLAs. Recommendations came from MLAs and others, due to which the Chief Minister decided to approve it. The Chief Minister will find a way to manage this money.

This has happened at a time when the state government has been constantly citing lack of funds for development work. The increase in the salary of MLAs will put a burden of Rs 10 crore on the state government every year. BJP has not opposed it at the moment.
