In a world ruled by crime and deceit, Kamal Haasan (Rangarayya Sakthivel Nayakar) is killed when a man caught in a crossfire by rival gang leader Mahesh Manjrekar (Sadanand) gets separated from his children Silambarasan (Amaran) and Chandra (Aishwarya Lekshmi). Meanwhile, Sakthivel and his brother Manikkam (Nassar) rescue Amaran and raise him as their own son.

Then years later, Manikkam’s daughter kills herself after being betrayed by Sadanand’s nephew. Amaran captures him to take revenge and Sakthivel kills him and this is where the story of the film takes a turn. Sakthivel is imprisoned, after which Amaran takes over Sakthivel’s throne. Manickam and Amaran meet Sadanand, who proposes a peace deal. He will enter politics, and Amaran can take control of his business areas. Though initially unhappy, Sakthivel eventually accepts this decision, but after being released from prison, Sakthivel sees a lot of changes, where everyone now accepts Amaran as the leader.

Once, when Sakthivel is travelling in a car with his gang, an attempt is made on his life. He survives the attack and then starts suspecting Amaran. To know what happens next, you will have to go to the cinema and watch the entire film. Talking about acting, apart from Kamal Haasan, Silambarasan, Trisha Krishnan, Abhirami, Aishwarya Lakshmi, Ashok Selvan, Joju George, Nassar, Ali Fazal, Rohit Saraf and Baburaj have also done justice to their characters.
At the same time, AR Rahman’s music is also the soul of this film. The background score is amazing and it would not be right to question Mani Ratnam’s direction, but somewhere his magic has not worked this time. The first half of the film is a bit slow, which can make you feel bored, but by the second half the film picks up its pace. From me, this film gets 2.5 stars out of 5.
